PERSONALIZED COGNITIVE COUNSELING

Personalized Cognitive Counseling (PCC) is an individual-level, single session counseling intervention designed to reduce unprotected anal intercourse (UAI) among men who have sex with men (MSM). PCC provides one-on-one counseling with counselors trained in HIV counseling and screening and in the PCC intervention. It allows the clients to explore the circumstances and identify self-justifications used by clients in making the decision to engage in high-risk behavior. The goal of the intervention is to guide clients to re-examine the thinking that led to their decision to engage in high risk behaviors and identify way they may think differently.
