ATLANTA (GA) - - Empowerment Resource Center (ERC) was honored in October with the highest certification possible – a three-year accreditation—from
the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF)
for its Intensive Outpatient Treatment (Integrated: AOH/MH) and Outpatient Treatment (Integrated: AOD/MH) programs. This
is the first accreditation that the international accrediting body, CARF, has given to ERC.
An organization receiving a Three-Year Accreditation has put itself through a rigorous peer review process. It has demonstrated to a team of surveyors during
an on-site visit its commitment to offering programs and services that are measurable, accountable, and of the highest quality. “ERC has many strengths,”
the survey notes.
Excerpts from the survey reflect areas of excellence:
“ERC has a dynamic CEO who has surrounded herself with
key staff members who lead the organization and have
multiple roles in the provision of services for its clients. The team meets regularly to discuss the day-to-day operations of ERC and the integration
of full-time staff with contract staff to ensure the continuity of services for clients.”
“ERC has a very dedicated staff that works with a high-risk
population to provide outpatient services for mental health and substance abuse and its primary mission of HIV services. […] Clients attending
outpatient, intensive outpatient treatment, and mental health services at ERC in downtown Atlanta described a caring staff that treated both their
medical needs and their substance abuse and mental health issues.
Community referral sources spoke highly of the services provided by ERC and chose the organization over other agencies in Atlanta for clients’ needs for
substance abuse and mental health services.By providing treatment to a special population, the organization has created a unique set of services for
its clients that are well respected in the community.
“It is gratifying to have peers acknowledge the excellence that our employees exemplify every day,” said Jacqueline Brown, CEO of ERC. “Our clients and
their families come first, and this accreditation is an indication of that collective ethic at ERC.”
