This includes laboratory monitoring, physical examinations, preventive services (e.g., immunizations), anti-retroviral therapy, prophylaxis and treatment of opportunistic infections, management of HIV-related complaints and conditions (e.g., thrush), co-infections (e.g., viral hepatitis), and referrals to other specialists.

What Does HIV Treatment Entail
The medication used for HIV is referred to as antiretroviral therapy (ART).
While there’s no definitive cure for HIV, it can be managed effectively with appropriate medical attention.
The majority of individuals can achieve viral suppression within six months.
It’s important to note that while HIV medication is effective in managing HIV, it does not prevent the transmission of other sexually transmitted diseases.
When Should I Begin Treatment
When Should I Begin Treatment
Begin Treatment Immediately Upon Diagnosis. HIV medication is advised for all individuals diagnosed with HIV, irrespective of the duration of infection or overall health status.
If you or your partner is pregnant or planning pregnancy, inform your healthcare provider. They will prescribe the appropriate HIV medication to prevent transmission of the virus to your baby.
What If I Delay Treatment?
HIV infection can progressively weaken your immune system, increasing the risk of developing AIDS.

This heightened vulnerability can also raise the likelihood of transmitting HIV to sexual and injection partners.
