2003

The Beginning Of The Road
ERC came to fruition when its founder, Jacqueline Brown, was disheartened by the fact that African American women newly-infected with HIV were becoming increasingly younger at a progressively alarming rate. This, along with the tacit approval and reticence of community leaders to accept the status quo, spawned the formation. ERC began by providing HIV counseling, testing and referral services and HIV educational seminars.

2007

ERC Hosted Its 1st Annual Take Charge. Get Tested.™ Health Fair Event
Hundreds of Atlantans participated in the 2008 ERC's first Take Charge. Get Tested.™ Health Fair event’s food, fun, and festivities. Community partners and volunteers were on hand to provide confidential HIV testing. 264 participants received a free rapid HIV test and harm reduction counseling.

2010

Elton John Foundation Grant Was Awarded to Enhance ERC's Repertoire of Clinical Services!
The Elton John Foundation Grant was awarded to ERC to provide increased access of Chlamydia, Gonorrhea, and Syphilis screening and treatment services in the Atlanta metropolitan area at the ERC Comprehensive Intervention Clinic. Additionally, ERC enhanced its' EmpowerLink™: Linkage to Care Program by increasing out Patient Advocacy Services and providing direct linkage to medical care and treatment for people living with HIV and AIDS (PLWHA).

2012

Finding the Right Location Took A While But We Found The Right One!
ERC celebrated the opening of their new office and Comprehensive Intervention Clinic in the United Way's Woodruff Volunteer Center at 100 Edgewood Avenue, NE Suite 1020. The United Way Woodruff Volunteer Center hosted a number of nonprofit organization, which assisted in providing a consistent continuum of care for clients.

2014

ERC Expanded Its Reach Through The Comprehensive Intervention Clinic!
ERC expanded its Comprehensive Intervention Clinic and the ERC on the M.O.Ve (Mobile Outreach Vehicle). The clinic facility has a state of the art laboratory, two fully equipped exam rooms, a triage room, two interactive waiting rooms and a counseling room. ERC on the M.O.Ve Program includes fully equipped vehicles to increase access to HIV and STI screening, family planning services and referral services in the community.

2015

Georgia Regents University & ERC partner for Georgia's 1st Peer Educator Certification Program!
The P4P Peer Educator Certification Program is a comprehensive, 22-hour foundation training, which includes course participation, job shadowing, on-the-job demonstration, and a certification. The program is designed to provide training opportunities and build capacity in the communities of people living with HIV and AIDS (PLWHA). Attendance at the entire activity is approved by Georgia Regents University for a maximum of 2.2 Continuing Education Units (CEUs).

2016

Behavioral Health & Outreach Services has Opened Its Doors to the Public!
ERC opened its doors to clients at its’ newest facility, Behavioral Health & Outreach Services (BHOS), located at 100 Edgewood Avenue, NE Suite 775 in the United Way's Woodruff Volunteer Center. With the help from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Administration Services, ERC BHOS will help accommodate the increased demand of mental health and substance abuse treatment and counseling in the Metro Atlanta area.

ERC PrEP Clinic is Officially Open!!
ERC's PrEP Clinic has officially opened and begun to accept clients! ERC began to provide Truvada as a prevention treatment and guidance for people at risk of HIV infection.

2017

ERC Has Moved Again!!
ERC moved and officially opened its doors to clients at its newest facility, located at 230 Peachtree Street, NW Suite 1800. The facility has a state of the art laboratory, three fully equipped exam rooms, a triage room, two interactive waiting rooms and three counseling room.

Take Charge. Get Tested.™ Health Fair Event Celebrates its 10 Year Anniversary!
Ten years ago, ERC hosted its first Take Charge. Get Tested. Health Fair Event in observance of National HIV Testing Day on June 27th. On June 27, 2017, the annual health fair kicked off and offered free HIV testing, health screenings, and information provided by many of the region's leading community-based organizations and health care providers. A total of 439 Atlantas registered to attend the event and 251 clients were provided a free HIV test and learned their status!! What a success!

2018

PrEP Has Expanded to Athens, Georgia!
In partnership with Georgia Department of Public Health and Live Forward, ERC has expanded its provision of PrEP therapy and education services! On December 5, 2018, ERC opened the city's first, free PrEP clinic at a satellite location hosted by Live Forward. The clinic is open on the first Wednesday of every month from 11AM to 6PM as a trial period, and hours may extend to every Wednesday, if the services are rendered necessary among the community!

2018

ERC Was Awarded Three-Year CARF Accreditation!
ERC was honored in October with the highest certification possible -- a three-year accreditation -- from the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) for its Intensive Outpatient Treatment (Integrated: AOH/MH) and Outpatient Treatment (Integrated: AOD/MH) programs. This is the first accreditation that the international accrediting body, CARF, has given to ERC.

2020

ERC Launches TelePrep and TelePeP
ERC’s TelePrEP and TelePEP services offer the convenience for ERC clients to see their provider via secure and confidential video conference. ERC’s telehealth services are an easy and safe way to increase accessibility and availability of health care services for all clients.
